Whether your child is just starting out with golf or has been swinging a club for a while, we have a variety of different programs that will help bring out your kid’s innate skills.

For smaller kids, our half-day camps might be the best choice. These camps include golf lessons from either 9 AM to 12 PM or 1 PM to 4 PM Monday-Thursday, and they pack tons of fun and learning into shorter, more manageable sessions. If your aspiring golfer is a little bit older, however, one of our all-day camps might be more appropriate.

State-of-the-Art Indoor Facilities

Parents are impressed, and kids are amazed by our top-tier indoor golfing facilities. Each of our facilities features about 10,000 feet of interior space, and our golf training centers are all equipped with 2,000 square feet of putting greens.

Since these putting greens are arranged on slight slopes, it’s easy to teach kids the basics of aim, speed, and other putting mechanics. Our golf training centers also feature 12 hitting bays each, and they include chipping areas that help our students master distance control.

Best of all, our golf training centers are equipped with the types of high-tech equipment that the pros rely on to get better at the game. For instance, we have 1,000-frame-per-second video cameras that help our students accelerate their learning through slow-motion visual analysis.

In addition, we also have classroom areas where students can discuss their techniques and develop growth plans. To top it all off, our facilities are air-conditioned to provide maximum summertime comfort.

What is the best age to start golf lessons for kids?

Tiger Woods was a golf prodigy who could assume a great stance and swing a club effectively at 3 years of age. Woods went on to break numerous barriers in his career and entered his first PGA tournament by age 18. [1] However, some kids haven’t reached the level of maturity to manage dangerous equipment until they’re much older. Some children take years to develop a good stance. Determining what age to start golf lessons depends on each child. In extraordinary cases, your child can begin at 2 or 3 years of age. Others shouldn’t begin until they reach school age. Kids who have no interest in the sport shouldn’t be forced, but they can be encouraged by example.

Your child’s interest in golf is the best barometer. Today, kids can develop an interest in playing golf by playing video games. Parents can begin informal lessons by showing their children how to stand, grip the club and swing. Ideally, keep the lessons short and fun. What age to start golf lessons? Children who express a real interest in the sport are candidates for lessons regardless of their age. [2]

Deciding when or if to give your kids golf lessons depends on their interests and ability to grasp the concepts and manage golf clubs. When you decide to begin lessons, rest assured that the sport of golf offers some outstanding benefits for children.

The benefits of golfing for kids

More children are definitely developing a taste for the game. Kids can expand their golf interests on social media, develop lifelong friendships and learn about personal responsibility. Other signature benefits of starting golf lessons at a young age include: [3]

  • Kids can enjoy a safe and beautiful environment for play.
  • Exercise that fosters wellness for life is a benefit of golf.
  • Golf teaches kids to improve their abilities constantly.
  • Spending time outdoors offers many health benefits.
  • Golfers learn to control their emotions.
  • Golf results in fewer injuries and risks than other sports.

Junior golfers under the age of 18 in Australia now account for 3.5 percent of total golfers across the country. Boys make up 4 percent, and girls comprise 2.3 percent. It’s estimated that there are 1.1 to 1.2 million golfers in Australia. [4] Fostering an interest in golf at an early age is important for the sport.

What age to start golf lessons depends on your venue

Once you’ve determined what age to start golf lessons, you just need to find an appropriate venue. It’s always best to start lessons with an impartial organisation to give your kids a diverse outlook and an age-appropriate social setting. Environment is critical in fostering a love of golf and a safe space for learning and development.

Aussie Kids Golf Academy is an ideal environment for golf lessons where your child can develop based on his or her skill level. Aussie Kids offers programs for beginners or junior golfers who want to move to a higher skill level in a beautiful and safe environment.

Golf May Just Be the Perfect Sport for Your Very Active Child.

golf and children with ADDIf you have a child that is very active, golf could be the perfect sport for them. There is some thought that kids that are overactive should be in sports that have them running around all the time, but what if that just fueled them? When you think about playing golf, most likely you think about a calming effect and that may be just what some kids need.
We know that some overactive kids can be distracted easily, so limiting activities with distractions and noise can help them to concentrate and stay focused. Also, having them set goals can help to keep them on task and involved, and meeting those goals gives them the self esteem and confidence they need to continue.

According to pro golfer Jim Ahern, as a child he couldn’t sit still and was bored easily but when he was just eleven years old, he discovered the game of golf and thrived on the many challenges it provided.

There are many professional golfers who have similar stories to Jim Ahern, and have found solace on the golf course. According to co-author of the book Driven to Distraction and renowned psychologist and ADD expert Edward M. Hallowell, “Golf is the ideal ADD sport. You get a fresh opportunity every time, so it’s one surprise after another. The combination of structure, novelty and motivation, wherever you find that, the mind tends to focus. When you set up your golf shot, you’ve got all three.”

Introducing them to golf should be a process so it’s not overwhelming. By giving them the basics and taking them out to hit the ball, you are allowing them to take charge of the process. If they ask to go out again, you know you’re on the right track. If the interest is there, lessons are a fun way for them to connect with other kids while learning the fundamentals of playing the great game of golf.

Golf is a game that requires skills. In order to play, you need to learn patience, perseverance, honesty, integrity and respect. All skills that will benefit you on the course, but also in life. Many parents who love golf want to introduce their kids to it as well, but worry about whether their child may be too hyperactive to play. If you can relate, you may want to re-consider.

Teaching kids golf is about more than the game. Of course you want them to learn the rules and respect the game, but in order to be able to do that, you need to make sure that they have fun. If you play, you understand that there is a lot to think about, but overwhelming a beginner is a surefire way to have them reject the game, and that would be a shame.
If you have ever wondered if your hyperactive child could get and stay focused enough to play golf, give them the opportunity. It may be the perfect sport for them!

You can read more about this topic in this great article published by Golf.com. “Some Tour pros might be thriving not in spite of their ADD, but because of it.
