Choose your golf time wisely
When you want to learn how to play golf with your kids, the first tip is to choose the time to play wisely. You don’t want to golf with your child early in the morning or during the day. Instead, you should choose an evening tee time because children tend to cause the pace to slow dramatically. Golfing when there are fewer people at the golf course will help to avoid annoying other golfers.
Buy your children some golf-related items
Kids love receiving presents and become more excited about activities when they receive gifts. You can help your child to be more excited about golfing by purchasing small golf-related items to give them. Think about buying them golf balls and tees in bright colors.
Choose to use a golf cart
As an avid golfer, you might prefer to walk the golf course as a form of exercise. You might also prefer to walk because you believe that is how people should play the game. However, when children are involved, choosing to use a golf cart instead can make them more excited to play. Children love riding in golf carts and view it as a source of entertainment. Your child might look forward to playing through all of the holes when they can ride in a golf cart in between each one.
Change the yardage for your kids
Children simply can’t drive the golf ball as far as adults. To make it less frustrating for them, move their tee closer so they will become less frustrated. Make sure to encourage them and to remain positive even if they hit the ball in the wrong direction. A positive approach will keep your child happier and will make the experience an enjoyable one.
Take some time to teach your children golf etiquette
Playing golf with your children is a great time to teach them about golf etiquette. Explain how golfers take turns and respect the course. At the same time, refrain from being too hard on your children. Make learning the rules of golf and golf etiquette fun because they will be likelier to retain them and to enjoy playing golf.
Be patient
Golfing with a young child can be frustrating for anyone. However, you need to remember that children do not have the same emotional development or knowledge of adults. You should be patient with your child and show them how to do things without getting annoyed when they do not do them correctly.
